I want to tell you some advices on how to clean the sea shells before using them. There are some ways of cleaning the shells.
First method is burning. Water is boiled in a large container and the shells are kept in boiling water for several minutes according to their size and type. You can roughly calculate the boiling time as one minute per 2.5 cm of roughness.
Secon method is freezing. The shells are filled with water so that they are all submerged by placing a plastic box with a cover. It is then frozen in ice. The animals, which are then decayed, are cleaned under pressure. Freezing three times makes this process easier to clean. The good thing is that you will get rid of bad smells. However, cleaning can take up to a week. You need to have a plastic box for this job and you need to reserve space for your ice.
Third method is vacuum pump. It is a method that is said to be quite new and effective. The upstream of the shell mouth is placed in a cloaca containing a mixture of bleach or hydrogen peroxide. This jar is placed in the container to be vacuumed and the pressure is gradually reduced. Thus, the solution penetrates and melts all the animals, allowing it to separate from the crust. This method, of course, allows the outer layer of the shell to be cleaned.
